In 2013 three former Sherpa-students of Kumjung Hillary Highschool got together to found a children´s home for children from distant areas in the region of Khumbu, so that it is possible for them as well to visit the School in the town of Khumjung. Later on, a fourth Sherpa joined the group to support this project.
The founders are:
- Chhimi Tshering Sherpa, Director
- Laxman Adhikari, Director
- Pemba Tshering Sherpa, Director
- Dawa Nuru Sherpa, Advisor
Teachers and Educators:
- Kanchi Futi Sherpa
- Anf Kanchi Sherpa
The children´s home now accommodate 28 children between 5 and 18 years.
Due to this number of children the KEC is completely full at the moment but there is still a great demand for more space.
